New Beginning!

First of all Happy New Year for all of you who celebrates the Sinhala and Hindu New Year!

Last time I wrote a blog post is like 3 years (or more) ago. I've been busy with my stuff and just forgot the simple fact that I have a blog. I thought it's nice to start fresh rather then resurrecting a (dead) forgotten blog. So, here it is: Dhamith's Blog (2.0).

I'm not really sure what kind of things I would write here, but I'm thinking about writing my experiences that would benefit someone else. I'm not into tech that much, but I do try out new OS's, apps/software and custom roms when I have time and I'm switched to OS X (a 'Hackintosh' of course) four years ago. So I'm pretty sure that I would write about things like that, fixes for some common problems that I've faced and able to fix (so I wouldn't forget the fix and if/when I face the same problem again I'd know what to do ;) ) and my opinions on stuff et cetera...

My Ubuntu Gnome setup

I saw some customized Gnome desktops on /r/unixporn, they looked interesting and wanted to try out Gnome. I installed it on my default Ubuntu installation, messed around with extensions and themes; I liked some features that Gnome and third party extensions offered; so I jumped to Ubuntu Gnome from default Unity when 15.10 came out. Because of that, Canonical's decision to discontinue Unity development and switch back to Gnome doesn't really effects me as it would've been. But I still liked the way Unity handled user experience, for instance: tray icons; I hate the way Gnome handled those .
